We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Lead specialising in Composites Machining to join our Composite Centre team at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). We are looking for candidates with a passion for engineering and composite technology to join our team.

As a Technical Lead you will contribute to the research objectives of the Composite Centre team, primarily through delivery of industrially focused world-leading research and development projects, as part of a team of engineers in an exciting and dynamic environment.

You will:
  • Have an honours degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have good problem-solving skills.
  • Technical knowledge in more than on area of the following: composite manufacture, composite design & modelling, composite tooling, composite machining, composite testing or analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer, process monitoring and control, numerical simulation of composite fatigue, data science or machine learning, to provide specific knowledge for Composites’ projects.
  • Experience of using a software programming language, (e.g. Matlab, Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, C++, etc.) to efficiently and effectively solve an engineering challenge.
  • Have a willingness to learn new skills.

The Composite Centre team focuses on producing and machining composite components, including hybrid parts combining high-performance metals and composites in a single structure. These structures can provide significant weight savings while maintaining the highest material and structural performance, offering improved fuel efficiency for aerospace and other transport applications.
